From the Collecta Team
Search.Identi.ca:
Real time search page for the open source mircoblogging community at Identi.ca
Collecta.com:
Search the web for videos, news, photos, blogs and more, in real time.
obama.collecta.com:
Obama in Real Time.
Below are some applications developers have already created with the Collecta API.
Collecta Firefox 3.5 extension:
Daniel Goodwin built a Firefox extension that pulls in realtime web content
based on the content of the page you are looking at. It takes the
title tag of the HTML file and parses keywords from that to be used in
the Collecta query. These terms change and update as you travel from
page to page so you are always getting a live feed of things you are
currently interested in. You can get a better idea of how the plugin works
by watching this video.
Grill-O-Mat:
Real time feed from the Python community around the web.
SBS:
Ignacio Lago developed this Collecta-powered search site which not only displays search results
related to your query but also does text analyses of those results, displaying a tag cloud related to the search.
Collecta Map:
Mattias Ekberg created a Google Maps mashup showing where real-time results are originating from.
Buzzdespolitiques:
Buzzdespolitiques is a French service that gives a visual daily
ranking for the French politicians. With Buzzdespolitiques, you can view the daily ranking of the politician's buzz,
view in real time what is said about each politician, and
export the daily ranking of the politicians on your site.
Collecta jQuery Plug-in:
Mike Moore created the Realtime Related Stream Bar jQuery plugin to create a bar of real-time
information related to your blog post.
Stinky Teddy:
David Hardtke created this Real-Time Gossip Powered Search app which uses the gossip and chatter from
the real-time web (currently Twitter and Collecta) to determine the
up-to-the-minute meaning of a search query.
Collecta Javascript Widget:
Dan Appleman developed a javascript widget that can be placed on your website
in a couple of ways and delivers a focused Collecta feed to your site. "As a blogger and gadget
columnist, I thought it would be nice to make it possible for anyone
visiting one of my posts to be able to quickly see the very latest
stories on the subject covered in the post. As a pure Javascript
solution, it's adaptable to virtually any web site."
SynchroExplorer:
From Livius Cerneka, this app simply asks "What are
you thinking about now" and attempts to show you "Who is thinking what
you are thinking". Livius explains, "It could be interesting to
discover unexpected and unpredictable connections."
Collecta Radar:
From Ivo Beckers: "Due to the concept of the radar, you
can track multiple search requests at once since they're linked to a
sector. And due to the inside-out movement of the items, you only have
to focus on the center (where the new items start)."
Collecta Greasemonkey script:
Jai Ganesh wrote a Greasemonkey script that once installed mixes Collecta's
real time results right in with your Google results.
Collecta4Firefox Add-on:
David Bello created a FireFox plug in that allows you to have a Collecta
side bar, as well as right click a word or selected phrase and drop
those terms into a Collecta search.
Collecta API Libraries
ActionScript:
Joel Hooks developed AS3CollectaLib, an Actionscript 3 abstraction of the Collecta Real-Time REST Search API enabling Flash developers to easily access the Collecta stream.
PHP:
M. Auayan developed CollectaPHP, a PHP class designed for working with Collecta.
.Net:
Collecta API Visual Basic .Net 3.5 Interface by Jay Bienvenu.
Ruby:
By Jim Myhrberg. A light Ruby library / Rails plugin for querying the Collecta API.
